Okay, so....I'm still looking into this, but this is something I'd really like to see at least make a solid attempt at happening. From the FriendFeed discussion of my previous post, it looks like there are two ways this can go. I like both of them.
Direction Number 1 -
We (conference attendees) actually record sessions at the ALA conferences we attend. I'm pretty sure ITI records their regular sessions at their conferences, so I'm afraid we'd get in trouble for making our own recordings and reposting them. Recording ALA sessions would require both people and equipment. I'd like to start with the people. Please let me know if you're interested in volunteering to do this! I'd love to have people from LSW and LITA/BIGWIG work together on this. I'd like to have a list of 20 or more people who'd be interested in doing this. There's no start date for it yet, so if you're interested but not attending ALA Annual 2009, please let me know anyway!!
Hopefully, I'll start working on the equipment and other issues soon as well.
Direction Number 2 -
A news podcast from the conference - this could be any number of things - reports from the LobbyCon that naturally happens, reports on various sessions, interviews with session leaders, interviews with attendees, interviews with vendors, roundtable type discussions (similar to what UnVocab used to be)...there are so many ways that could go.
Again, both people and equipment are needed! I would love for people with actual podcast hosting (or other kinds of hosting - DJ, etc) experience to step up for this one. This is definitely something that could happen at all library conferences, from the state and local level all the way to the various national conferences. If you're interested in volunteering for this, please let me know.
Again, I'm hoping to work out equipment stuff on this soon.
If nothing else comes out of this, I'd really love to see the news broadcast type podcast for the conferences. I think it could be a very valuable thing for both attendees and those of us who are "virtual" attendees of conferences.

T is for Training
BTW -- T is for Training (http://tisfortraining.wordpress.com) recorded a podcast at CIL. Maurice Coleman was able to gain access to one of the rooms Tuesday evening, an Internet connection, and an cool microphone so that 10 of us could talk and be heard. We began talking about CIL, but quickly went off on interesting tangents.
I would enjoy hearing podcasts from other conferences (including SLA). It would be one more way of sharing information and learning from each other.
